2010 — an exhibition and monograph dedicated to my grandfather
In 2010, I initiated and organized a major exhibition dedicated to the work and artistic legacy of my grandfather, the painter Hendrik Poeder. The exhibition took place at the Municipal Museum of Kampen, in his beloved city, where he lived and worked for most of his life. He would undoubtedly have been proud to have his work presented there. The project was both a personal journey and an artistic undertaking, bringing together his paintings and tracing the development, significance, and enduring presence of his work.
Alongside the exhibition, I compiled and published a monographic book on his life and artistic practice. The publication named Kamper Schilder, brought together his work, archival material, documentation, and texts, creating a comprehensive record of his artistic life and preserving his legacy for future generations. The book was designed by my friend and colleague, Merian Plaat, whose refined graphic design brought elegance and coherence to the publication, complementing the work it presented.
The exhibition and the monograph were conceived as more than an act of remembrance. They became an opportunity to revisit his work through a contemporary perspective and place it within its historical and artistic context.
This project remains an important part of my artistic and personal history—a dialogue between generations, between memory and contemporary practice, and between the private experience of family and the public life of art.
